Neck pain

Cervical pain, as referenced in medical literature, is the pain that originates from the cervical spine and the soft tissues surrounding it, and it is a common issue among modern urban dwellers. Neck pain requires particular attention when it results from any direct injury to the spine or the head

since the head is connected to the body through the neck, any force applied to the skull is transmitted to the neck. Additionally, when neck pain is accompanied by headache, fever, dizziness, or other symptoms, it is advisable to initially seek evaluation from a neurologist.

The common neck pain experienced by modern individuals can result from a combination of factors. In younger age groups, it is often caused by muscle spasms in the neck due to improper head positioning in the workplace, during sleep, or in daily habits that require prolonged fixation of the gaze at a fixed distance (e.g., using a computer).

In older age groups, degeneration of the cervical vertebrae typically adds to the problem, leading not only to pain but also to actual stiffness in neck movements.

The management of cervical pain begins with a thorough clinical examination by the treating physician, combined with a detailed history that will guide the examiner toward a potential cause. If necessary, some imaging or other tests may follow.

In our therapeutic arsenal, a variety of options are available. These options aim initially at providing immediate relief to the patient through appropriate pain relief medication or physical therapy, and subsequently training the patient to avoid or worsen neck pain due to body posture and daily habits.

In chronic cases where pain has become established, management is more challenging. Here, a more specialized approach to the patient is necessary due to a general dysregulation of the body's intrinsic mechanisms and pain management. Patient tailored pain management techniques can be effective where conventional treatment of functional issues fails. Our clinic offers personalized treatment for such functional disorders using the method of Neural Therapy.

In cases where, in addition to cervical pain, there are symptoms and signs of muscle weakness in the upper and lower limbs, a thorough investigation follows. Under certain conditions and specific indications, this may necessitate surgical intervention.
